E911 Disclosure and Advisory

Important Information Regarding VoIP 911 Services

1. Overview of VoIP 911 Service

BugFree Fiber Plans provides Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) services. It is important to understand that VoIP 911 service differs fundamentally from traditional telephone 911 service. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires us to advise you of the circumstances under which 911 service may not be available.

2. Registered Location Requirement

Because VoIP calls can be made from anywhere with an internet connection, you must provide BugFree with your accurate physical location (the “Registered Location”) where the VoIP equipment will be used. If you move your equipment to a new location, you must immediately update your Registered Location. Failure to do so may result in emergency services being routed to the wrong location.

3. Service Outages and Power Failures

Power Outages: VoIP service relies on electricity. In the event of a power outage, your VoIP service, including 911 calling, will not function unless you have an operational battery backup.

Internet Outages: Since VoIP utilizes your broadband internet connection, any internet service outage or degradation will disrupt your ability to make 911 calls.

4. Network Congestion

There is a possibility of network congestion or reduced speed in the routing of a 911 call compared to traditional 911 dialing over the public switched telephone network.

5. Acknowledgment

By using BugFree Fiber Plans’ VoIP services, you acknowledge that you have read and understand these E911 limitations and agree to inform all residents and guests at your location of these limitations.
